Debbie Reynolds RIP
#1
One of the last of the great "Golden Age of Hollywood" leading ladies - Debbie Reynolds - has died at the age of 84, only one day after her daughter, acclaimed movie actress Carrie Fisher.
Debbie Reynolds made her screen debut in 1948 and starred in over 40 movies. Her starring roles included Singin' In The Rain, The Tender Trap, Tammy And The Bachelor, The Mating Game and The Unsinkable Molly Brown, to name but a few. Her career in television was even wider, including her own The Debbie Reynolds Show. In more recent years she was involved in the Rugrats, Love Boat, Will And Grace and Kim Possible series and others.
Much loved around the world, Debbie Reynolds was a household name but received only 1 Oscar nomination.
Carrie Fisher, who died on the previous day, was best known for her role as Princess Leia in the Star Wars series, but made at least as many movies as her mother.
The world of cinema has lost two greats from the same family in two days, and movie fans have been shocked by this doubling of tragedy.
