Old songs
#1
Here is an old song, the singer is Ruth Etting and the song is called ''Shine on harvest moon''. This song it was also used in Laurel and Hardy 1939 movie ''Flying Deuces''. You have both, Ollie and Ruth there. Who you prefer? I hope you enjoy it.

Trail Of The Lonesome Pine   (1913)

Original version on Edison cylinder (with second verse, too!)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wMSO0gfjM-k

Lyrics

v.1
On a mountain in Virginia
Stands a lonesome pine.
Just below is the cabin-home
Of a little girl of mine.
Her name is June and very very soon
She'll belong to me.
For I know she's waiting there for me
'Neath that lone pine tree

Refrain
In the Blue Ridge mountains of Virginia
On the trail of the lonesome pine.
In the pale moonshine
Our hearts entwine
Where she carved her name and I carved mine
Oh June, like the mountains I'm blue
Like the pine, I'm lonesome for you....
In the Blue Ridge mountains of Virginia
On the trail of the lonesome pine.

v.2
I can hear the tinkling waterfall
High upon the hill.
Bluebirds sing, sing so cheerily
To their mates with rapture thrill
They seem to say "your June is waiting there,
Longing still with sighs
For I know she's waiting patiently
Where that lone pine thrives.

(Refrain)
End

The Singer Not The Song

The French chanson songstress Frehel giving it all she's got at the Lapin Agile, Paris.

And the greatest (Piaf)

Not forgetting the greatest of the chansong guys (and yes he's Belgian):

And they don't come much more energetic (or cheeky with the lyrics) than this:
